Short Description

The days after Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated, third grade school teacher Jane Elliott wanted to give her students in small town Iowa a lesson on racism that her students would never forget. She decided to divide her class into two groups based on a trait in her class. After that, they were treated differently based on this trait, giving the students first-hand experience on prejudice and discrimination that would become famous throughout the country. The first part of this video shows what happens on the first day, when the children are divided into the two groups.
